Why this study matters

Nigerian dentistry has no comprehensive workforce data.

Decisions about dental education, regulation, remuneration, and practice policy are being made without reliable, current evidence. The workforce challenges Nigerian dentists face — from compensation to working conditions to the pressures that drive emigration — are poorly documented.

This study changes that. By capturing the direct experiences of practising dentists across Nigeria, the Dentistry Workforce Study 2026 will produce the first systematic evidence base for the profession — one that APDPN and other stakeholders can use to advocate effectively on your behalf.

The findings will be published as the Nigerian Dentistry Workforce Report 2026, freely available to all participants and the broader dental community.
